Murmuration is a sculptural pavilion installation at Atlanta's High Museum. The project consists of a cable-stayed tension ring structure formed by posts of various heights evocative of both a series of tent structures and tree canopies. The structure is comprised of curved round tubes, braided cables, and an architectural mesh netting. The intent of the project is to activate the High Museum's courtyard plaza and reinforce the connection and awareness of the city to the natural environment through the attraction of migratory birds.
The project required coordination with the architect's Rhino model, the development of loads that the structure would experience, connections and member sizes that fit the architectural intent. Design tasks included: analytical modeling of the structure, and steel design.
