Suntrust Security Pavillion
Suntrust Security Pavillion and interior renovations is a renovation project at the Suntrust Plaza in Downtown Atlanta. The project includes the enclosure of the westernmost cube and the creation of an opening in an existing curtainwall system at the face of the building. The intent of the project is to create a grand entryway into the buildings lobby and enhance the security of the property.
The project required coordinating new structure to fit within the existing structural support for the granite-clad cube, without the requirement to shore or remove the majority of the existing cubes granite cladding. The project also required support for an existing skylight spanning between the cube and curtainwall, and support for the existing curtainwall. Design tasks included: analytical modeling of both the existing and new conditions, design of post-installed anchorage, connection design, and steel design.
